Two Trigg Students Win Lt. Governor’s Competition

Two Trigg County High School students are celebrating after winning the Lt. Governor’s Entrepreneurship Challenge.

Engineering Teacher Lori Ricks reports Cade Bleidt and Grace Knight, who won the Regional Competition, advanced to state and won on Friday, April 12. Both won scholarship money and are eligible to attend the Governor’s School of Entrepreneurs this summer at Northern Kentucky University and the engineering program also received $500.

Bleidt and Knight’s product is a medical alert bracelet that delivers aid in the event of a medical emergency attack, even if someone is unconscious and cannot press a button, immediately notifying an emergency contact or 911. The device would be programmable to accommodate specific parameters, helping those with conditions including seizure disorders or Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.

Lieutenant Governor Jenean Hampton says she started the contest “to challenge young Kentuckians to look around themselves, ask questions, and find opportunities.”
