Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes announced Thursday that a record number of Kentuckians are registered to vote in the Primary Election on Tuesday, May 21.
Grimes reports 3,421,796 Kentuckians are registered to vote which represents a net increase of 18,891 voters since the 2018 General Election, the last statewide election in the Commonwealth. She notes Democratic voters represent just more than 49 percent of the electorate with 1,684,200 registered voters, while Republican voters total 1,437,897 or about 42 percent of voters. She indicates 9 percent of voters — about 299,699 — affiliate with another party or as “Other.”
According to Grimes, more than 72,000 new voters used GoVoteKY.com to register since the launch of online voter registration in March and more than one million Kentuckians have visited the portal with more than 183,000 applications submitted and processed.
Grimes encourages Kentucky voters to visit the portal for voter resources, for information on absentee voting, voter registration status, sample ballots, and locating polling places.
