Cadiz Woman Charged For Leaving Accident Friday Afternoon

A Cadiz woman was arrested for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident on Friday afternoon.

The Cadiz Police Department reports they received a call about 50-year old Lisa Meredith driving west on Main Street, leaving the roadway and reportedly driving through a grassy area near Pennyrile Electric. When officers caught up with Meredith and activated their emergency equipment to try and stop her she pulled into an empty lot near Cunningham Avenue and pulled back onto Main Street heading east.

The officer reports the vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and then passed two vehicles that were stopped at the intersection of Lakota Drive and Main Street. She then reportedly continued into the Fred’s Pharmacy parking lot where she stopped before hitting a vehicle. The officer then pulled the police cruiser in front of her vehicle to try and stop her, but she “slammed into the patrol vehicle”. She was arrested after trying to put the vehicle into reverse.

Meredith was transported to Trigg County Hospital to be given medical clearance after complaining of a medical emergency. While in the ER, she reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana the night before and taking Ambien prior to leaving work, about 30 minutes before she was arrested.

She was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – aggravating circumstances, leaving the scene of an accident, and a vehicle registration-related offense.
