Elkton Residents Vote To Make The City Wet

Voters in Elkton voted to allow the sale of alcohol in the rural Todd County community during Tuesday’s Primary Election.

The group Vote Elkton Wet tells the News Edge the vote to allow the sale of alcohol was 313-169.

As we have previously reported, the group filed an intent to petition to the Todd County Clerk’s office on Friday, December 28, 2018. The group collected enough signatures in late January for the vote to be put on the ballot.

Elkton is the second city in Todd County to go wet following Guthrie, which became wet after a local option election held on October 4, 2011.

Todd County Standard Publisher Ryan Craig reports there have been at least two other attempts to make the city wet. Meanwhile, the City of Trenton and the county remains dry.
