Former Band Director And Wife Indicted In Sex Abuse Case

Former Hopkinsville High School Band Director Seth Peveler was formally indicted by the Christian Grand Jury Friday, with his wife also indicted for tampering with witnesses.

The Grand Jury charged Seth Peveler with four counts of third-degree rape, four counts of third-degree sodomy and one count of unlawful transaction with a minor. The rape indictment charges Seth Peveler with have sexual relations with a student under the age of 18 while he was acting in his official capacity as the Hopkinsville High School Band Director. The sodomy indictment accuses Seth Peveler of having deviate sexual activity with a student or students on four occasions. And the tampering with physical evidence charge was lodged because Seth Peveler allegedly provided marijuana to a minor.

Meanwhile, the Christian County Grand Jury charged Peveler’s wife Hannah, who was the Assistant Christian County Commonwealth’s Attorney, with three counts of tampering with a witness. The indictment accuses Hannah Peveler of attempting to induce witnesses to not testify against her husband, Seth.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling says investigators informed him earlier this week they were also looking at charges against Mrs. Peveler.

The charges against Seth Peveler were lodged in May after he allegedly allowed a student to smoke marijuana and then had sexual intercourse with the student. More charges were lodged against Peveler after other students came forward to share their stories with investigators. He was formerly the Hopkinsville High School Band Director but resigned last month.
Seth Peveler is scheduled to be arraigned in Christian Circuit on July 3 at 8:30.
