A National Weather Service meteorologist in Nashville says Montgomery County had a rare June tornado Wednesday night, but only caused minor damage.
Meteorologist Sam Shamburger says the EF-0 tornado path was over a mile long and 300 yards wide, with a few trees blown down and a destroyed carport the only damage reported.
The tornado touched down in the Ryes Chapel Road area of south Montgomery County, east of Highway 48 around 6:10.
Shamburger adds it’s the first recorded tornado ever in that area of Montgomery County.
