If you and your family plan on going to Lake Barkley State Resort Park for the July 4th holiday, you need to be aware of a change especially if you plan on swimming at the beach.
Kentucky State Parks spokesman Gil Lawson tells the News Edge the beach will be closed Independence Day.

He says the area will be open at 5:00 Thursday afternoon with fireworks starting after sunset.

The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets in order to enjoy the free fireworks show, which is sponsored by the Friends of Lake Barkley.
