Trigg Tourism Commission Passes Budget And Updated Bylaws

The Cadiz-Trigg County Tourist and Convention Commission approved the 2019-2020 fiscal year budget and updated bylaws during their meeting Thursday afternoon.

Executive Director Bill Stevens presented the $586,000 budget, which shows over 70% of the money coming in from the Restaurant Tax. The biggest expense is paying 25% of the Restaurant Tax to the Cadiz-Trigg County Parks and Recreation Department.

In other action, members approved the updated bylaws for the commission. Stevens notes a few changes were made, including an addition to their mission statement.

The same addition was made to the goals section. Among other things added; a plan for the tourism office to be open on Saturday in the summer months and holidays and be staffed by RSVP Volunteers; support all local tourism activities through promotion, attendance, and providing resources; and the 3% transient room tax and a tax rebate for the Harper House restaurant.

Members also learned the Community Planning Group has now turned into the Friends of Tourism. The group will work closely with the tourism commission to help with events in Cadiz and Trigg County, including the upcoming Music and Food Festival on July 27.
