The Trigg County community is mourning the loss of a longtime doctor.
Dr. William Bill Anderson, who has been serving the county since 1981, passed away Monday afternoon after a battle with illness at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Trigg County magistrate Mike Wright, who also serves on the Trigg County Hospital board, tells the News Edge Dr. Anderson was a very important member of the community.
He adds Dr. Anderson was a real trooper.
Dr. Anderson graduated medical school at the University of Kentucky. He was board certified by the American Board of Family Practice in 1981 and shortly began his service on the Trigg County Board of Health.
In addition to his private practice which he operated on Main Street, he was appointed to the medical staff of Trigg County Hospital where he served as Chief of Staff from 1983-1985 and again from 1989-1991. He was also a volunteer faculty member at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and the University of Louisville College of Medicine.
Dr. Anderson leaves behind his wife Elizabeth, who helped to establish their medical practice, and their three sons William, Andrew, and James.
