One Trigg County High School student had the opportunity to go to an international competition with the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) organization last month.
Savannah Garnett, an incoming sophomore, told members of the Cadiz Rotary Club Tuesday afternoon she was a very busy freshman.
She adds HOSA is a great club for students who have an interest in having a career in the medical field.
Garnett was one of at least 25 students from Trigg County that were able to head to the state competition in Louisville in early March where she participated in an extemporaneous writing activity.
She placed second and was able to participate in the international competition in Orlando, Florida in June and presented her writing on how to stop emergency rooms from being overrun with non-emergent cases.
Unfortunately, she did not place, with the international competition featuring around 11,000 students from across the world.
