Trigg County’s 8U and 10U all-star softball teams took home championships Saturday.
The 8U team went undefeated during the day beating tournament host, Murray, Caldwell, and an area travel team, Chaos. The first win came against Chaos 8-5 in six innings.
After the game, a Chaos coach commented to Trigg County coaches, “I sure hope we get to play you again.”
The Chaos coach got his wish in the championship game playing Trigg County, who was the number one seed after pool play. While team Chaos had heavy bats during the championship, they could not compete with Trigg’s power. Trigg outscored team Chaos 23-16 in an offensive battle. Due to Trigg’s 8U team being up 7 runs, the game was called in the fifth inning. This championship was the 2nd championship this summer for Trigg’s 8U all-star team.
Trigg’s 10U team, who was also playing in Murray Saturday, continued impressive summer play. The team started the day beating Murray Gold team in pool play. Despite losing to Union in pool play, Trigg’s 10U team played well when it mattered. Trigg County went on to beat Marshall County 8-1, Murray Blue team 8-5 (after being down 5-3), and Caldwell 8-6 in the championship.
Trigg’s 10U record for the day was 4-1. This is the third championship for Trigg County’s 10U all-star team.
