Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks is inviting adult residents and business owners in Christian County, who want to learn more about municipal government, to become a City Diplomat.
City officials say the Mayor is accepting applications for the inaugural citizen’s academy, known as the City of Hopkinsville Diplomat Program. As a City Diplomat, citizens will have the opportunity to learn how to make municipal government work for them, gain knowledge of local municipal government, and have the opportunity to support their community through service, promotion, and volunteerism. The program will be held on the first Wednesday night of each month at 6:00 beginning in October and continuing through March.
Applications are available at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center Complex located on South Virginia Street or online www.hopkinsvilleky.us/diplomat. Applications must be submitted by email to City Clerk Crissy Fletcher at cfletcher@hopkinsvilleky.us, by hand delivery to the Municipal Center, or by mail. The application deadline is Friday afternoon, August 30, at 4:30 p.m.
City officials note individuals accepted to the program will be notified by mail. Those not accepted will be put on a waiting list for the next session.
