The Christian County Board of Education will hold a public hearing prior to the regular school board meeting Thursday night to hear comments regarding a proposed general fund tax levy of 44.0 cents on real property and 44.0 cents on personal property.
According to officials, the General Fund tax levied in fiscal year 2019 was 42.8 cents on real property and 42.8 cents on personal property and produced revenue of $15,505,260.01. They indicate the proposed General Fund tax rate of 44.0 cents on real property and 44.0 cents on personal property is expected to produce $16,729,479.53. Of this amount, $2,442,171.32 is from new and personal property. The compensating tax rate for fiscal year 2020 is 42.4 cents on real property and 42.4 cents on personal property and is expected to produce $16,121,134.81.
School officials say the general areas to which revenues of $1,224,219.52 above 2019 revenues are to be allocated as follows: cost of collections $48,969; building fund $116,510; instruction $1,058,740.52.
The public hearing will be held at the Christian County Board of Education on Glass Avenue Thursday afternoon at 5:30.
