Tourism Up In Christian County And Across The State

The Hopkinsville Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced that visitor spending and visitation growth are on the rise throughout Christian County.

Executive Director Brooke Jung tells the News Edge tourism spending was up $10 million last year from 2017.

 

She adds tourism spending has a huge impact within the county.

 

Jung adds the biggest attractions have been the Casey Jones and MB Roland distilleries, the Hopkinsville Brewing Company, among others.

 

Among tourism spending, increases were also seen in employment. A total of over 1,600 tourism-related jobs were reported throughout the county, leading to the creation of 68 more jobs than 2017 in hospitality. Additionally, tourism contributed more than $13.4 million in state and local taxes.

Statewide the economic impact was up nearly $300 million, generating more than 94,500 jobs and $787 million in state and local taxes.
