The City of Dawson Springs has been awarded nearly $86,000 in discretionary funds for critical pavement improvements. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet released the information Tuesday that Department of Rural and Municipal Aid Commissioner Gray Tomblyn II had announced the funding at a city council meeting Tuesday, August 27th.
The funds will be used to address vital resurfacing work, including repairing surface cracks and potholes, on Union Grove, Cross Street, Hamby Avenue, Russell Street, Lynch Street, Oak Street, and Baxter Lane.
Officials state that nearly $86,000 in discretionary funds support Governor Matt Bevin’s commitment to prioritize transportation infrastructure projects and increase economic opportunity across the Commonwealth.
Dawson Springs Mayor Chris Smiley expressed the City is extremely appreciative of the monies received from the state and indicated that the extra funds will allow the City to address much-needed street repairs to make the streets better for their citizens. The roads set to be addressed provide access to more than 130 homes.
