Community members are invited to come out and show support for the wounded, ill and injured Warrior Transition Battalion soldiers from Fort Campbell and other military bases as they participate in a 101-mile bike ride next week.

Blanchfield Community Army Hospital officials say this annual event formerly known as the Bluegrass Rendezvous and now known as the “Where Heroes Rendezvous” ride, is a 2-day event that includes routes on Fort Campbell and in surrounding communities. The more than 70 riders include Warrior Transition Battalion soldiers from Fort Campbell, Fort Knox, Fort Stewart, and Fort Benning. The team plans to break every 25 miles for water and refreshment breaks, as well as equipment and medical support if needed. Local area police have been notified of the route and the timeline within each of the communities.

The evening of September 26, riders will enjoy a spaghetti dinner at the Soldier and Family Assistance Center and will depart at 7:00 Friday morning, September 27, from building 2114 Indiana Avenue on the Army post. The first rest stop will occur 25 miles into the ride in Lafayette, followed by rest stops in Gracey, Hopkinsville and Oak Grove. The riders will then pass by Indian Hills Elementary School off Country Club Lane and follow Fort Campbell Boulevard until reaching Gate 7 to return back to the Fort Campbell Warriors Transition Battalion Headquarters complex around 4:00 that afternoon.

Army officials say planned cheer points for community members who want to support and cheer on the riders will be at Indian Hills Elementary School, Blanchfield Community Hospital, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Headquarters and the Warrior Transition Battalion Headquarters.
