Former APSU Student Chosen To Be On “The Voice”

A former Austin Peay State University student has joined a team on NBC’s “The Voice” for this season.

College officials report 25-year old Calvin Lockett, of Durham, North Carolina wowed the judges by singing “Just My Imagination” by the Temptations during Monday’s episode.

Judges Blake Shelton, John Legend, and Gwen Stefani all turned their chairs, with Lockett picking Stefani as his coach. Stefani noted his voice was very good.

Lockett is the son of Lynnita and Calvin Lockett, who are both pastors at Christ The Healer Church in Clarksville. Lockett sang his first solo in church at the age of 13 and adds that winning “The Voice” would mean a lot to him and his family.
