The public is invited to a meet-and-greet and reception for the newly appointed chief of the Hopkinsville Fire Department.
Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks says a reception a meet-and-greet for Chief Steve Futrell will be Tuesday, October 29, beginning at 4:30 with remarks and a pinning ceremony to begin at 5:00.
Futrell took over the role of chief of the Hopkinsville Fire Department on September 23 after a recommendation by Mayor Hendricks was approved by City County on September 17.
Futrell joined the department in July of 1999 and was promoted to Captain in October 2014. He became the Deputy Chief in August 2017.
Futrell’s appointment came about after former chief Freddie Montgomery announced in June he was retiring on August 1 to become the Chief of the Clarksville Fire Department.
