A wreck on East 7th Street injured a Hopkinsville man and led to a power outage Tuesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police Sgt. Ceasar Sierra said a truck driven by 23-year-old Robert Jenkins failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a utility pole at the intersection of East 7th Street and Belmont Street cutting the pole in half.
Jenkins was reportedly charged with DUI after police found eight empty beer cans and two whiskey bottles in his truck. Police say he complained of head and knee injuries but didn’t want an ambulance.
The intersection was blocked for several hours while the utility pole was replaced.
