Board Of Health Discusses Pension And Renovation Project

The Christian County Board of Health heard several updates at the quarterly meeting Monday night including reports about the pension and the building renovation project.

Director Kayla Bebout said past discussions by the General Assembly regarding the pension have been that quasi-agencies could pay 90 to 93 percent employer contribution starting July 2020. She added the board will need to decide before December 31st if they want to receive Actuarial Reports from the Kentucky Retirement System.

In other news, Bebout said they are looking to purchase a mobile unit next year instead of sharing it with other area health departments.
She noted the health department has also received a Jail Education Grant Program.

In addition, Bebout said the health department is looking into an online food manager course and electronic medical records, and to date have administered 597 doses of the flu vaccination.

In other reports, Administrative Services Coordinator Devin Brumfield said the building committee rejected three sealed bids for the renovation project.

And Health Education Manager Amanda Sweeney presented information about the Harm Reduction Syringe Exchange Program for pro-active disease prevention, specifically Hepatitis A and HIV. After a lengthy discussion and several questions, board members agreed they need more information before moving foward with a motion to implement the program.
The health board will hold special called meetings next month and in December.
