Hopkinsville Community College and Kroger officials were joined by members of the community and students Tuesday afternoon to launch the Pathfinder Pantry.
College Chief Institutional Advancement Officer Yvette Eastham says numerous students on their campus suffer from food insecurity.
College President Alissa Young adds they began to notice a need after a tornado struck Hopkinsville on February 24, 2018.
Young notes they want to make it easier for students who need food, hygiene products, and baby needs.
Hopkinsville Kroger Assistant Manager Terrance Young says the initiative is a part of the Zero Hunger, Zero Waste program.
Kroger presented a $1,500 donation to officially open the pantry, with additional funding to come from the Hopkinsville Community College Foundation Fund.
College officials say they will need assistance to keep the Pathfinder Pantry open and anyone interested in donating can call Eastham at (270) 707-3731 or click here.
