UPDATE – Bevin Concedes, Area Recanvass Results Unchanged

Governor Matt Bevin conceded the gubernatorial race to Governor-Elect, Attorney General Andy Beshear Thursday afternoon.

At a news conference, Bevin said there was not much change with the recanvass results and there would be a change in the governorship.

Secretary of State Allison Lundergan Grimes announced Thursday afternoon that the statewide recanvass of the votes in the governor’s race did not change the results of the election.

Each of Kentucky’s 120 county boards of elections convened at 9:00 Thursday morning to recheck and recanvass all voting machines.

Christian County Elections Coordinator Melinda Humphries tells the News Edge the results of the recanvass were unchanged.

She notes they checked approximately 80 tapes for the recanvass.

County Clerk, Carmen Finley says they checked the tapes and everything was the same as election night.

County Clerk Toni Watson also reports the recanvass in Caldwell showed no changes.

Secretary Grimes reports Andy Beshear received 5,136 more votes than Matt Bevin in the 2019 Gubernatorial Election.

Grimes expressed her gratitude to the 120 county boards of elections for their efforts to ensure confidence in the General Election results.
