Ebonite Rapid Response Meetings Planned Thursday

The West Kentucky Workforce Development Board will begin holding Rapid Response later this week to assist employees impacted by the suddent closure of Ebonite Friday.

According to a post on social media the first Rapid Response meetings will take place Thursday, November 21, at 9:30 am, 1:00 pm or 3:00 pm at the Hopkinsville Community College Emerging Technology Building in the Anderson Room.
Director Sheila Clark says they have been meeting through the weekend to begin to implement a plan to assist Ebonite employees in a number of ways after receiving official notice of the closure Friday afternoon.

Clark says a number of rapid response events will be planned in the near future.

She adds there will be a wide range of assistance available during the rapid response events.

Clark says there will also be information about unemployment.

She says plans are also in the works for a career fair.

Clark reassures all Ebonite employees that West Kentucky Workforce will be there to provide assistance in the coming days to help them find a new direction for their lives and career.

Brunswick announced Friday afternoon they had acquired Ebonite and would close the Hopkinsville manufacturing facility and move all production to Mexico. The company employees were escorted from the building on Friday afternoon after the closure was announced. Reports from Brunswick indicate employees will receive a severance package that will include pay through early January 2020.
