The Christian County Military Affairs Committee hosted the 2019 Eagle Ambassador Breakfast Wednesday morning to recognize and honor outstanding community members supporting the military.
Commander of the 101st Airborne Division, Major General Brian Winski, delivered an update on all the major units in the 101st that function out of Fort Campbell. He commended them each on their work, noting the 1st Brigade recently returned from successful missions in Syria, Iraq, and Kuwait.
In addition, the 2nd Brigade recently returned from Africa where they worked to combat terrorism. A portion of the 2nd Brigade also returned from assisting the Ukrainian military in combatting Russian separatists.
Major General Winski notes the 3rd Brigade will continue the 2nd Brigade’s work in Africa. A portion of the 3rd Brigade will also be deployed to the southwest border of the United States to assist Homeland Security and Customs and Border Patrol in protecting our nation.
Lastly, the Aviation Brigade will be deployed across Europe this Spring to support the work of our NATO allies, among other tasks. Part of the Aviation Brigade will also be deployed to South Korea to support our forces there.
