HCC Board Looking to Add New Programs as Enrollment Falls

The Hopkinsville Community College Board of Directors came together Monday evening to discuss an enrollment update, new programs coming to campus, as well as an event they hope will help some students have a more magical holiday season.

HCC President Dr. Alissa Young says they are putting emphasis on enrollment after seeing numbers fall short of their expectations for the Fall semester.

She notes they are once again beginning a search for a new Chief Academic Officer, adding the deadline will be March 2nd.

Dr. Young also expresses her excitement over new programs they hope to offer to their students, such as a degree in welding or mortuary science.

The board also hopes to improve Christmas for some of their students through an event called Circle of Love.

You can see Dr. Young in the upcoming Hopkinsville Electric System and Energy Net Christmas Parade on December 14 as Grand Marshal. HCC will have their own float in the parade as well.
