Lawyers for Kuttawa’s former city clerk and her husband lawyers have petitioned the court to lower their bond.
According to West Kentucky Star, the Lyon County Circuit Court Clerk reported Katie and Clayton Harrison appeared for a pre-trial conference Monday in which the judge continued the case until December 20th for mediation related to the bond motions.
Katie Harrison is charged with 24 counts of second-degree forgery, abuse of the public trust, tampering with physical evidence, theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and theft by deception over $500. Clayton Harrison faces 10 counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and theft by deception over $500.
The charges stem from a Kentucky State Police investigation in August 2018 after officials discovered financial irregularities in two different Kuttawa city accounts. The Harrisons weren’t arrested until November 2018 after authorities found them in Sevier County, Tennessee.
Both defendants are scheduled for a jury trial on May 14, 2020.
