The Clarksville Police Department is thanking the community for donations to their annual Kids Shopping with Cops Extravaganza at the Sango Walmart.
Public Information Officer Jim Knoll reports the event was put on by the Clarksville Police Union #18 and occurred Saturday. The union-sponsored holiday shopping spree helped over 135 children.
He adds there were many heart-rending moments as each child made gift selections. Some shopped for themselves, and others wanted to buy gifts for everyone else except themselves.
Officers from Clarksville Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, VA Police and civilians with a connection to law enforcement escorted the kids around to help pick out the perfect gift.
Knoll notes they would like to thank the local businesses, organizations and the community for their generous donations, which made the day possible.
