Couple Charged With Possession Of Meth After Hopkinsville Traffic Stop

A traffic stop for a license plate not being illuminated led to drug charges for an Oak Grove woman and Clarksville man Sunday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped 46-year-old Tabitha Jones for her license plate not being illuminated after she was seen driving slowly and pulling into driveways near Thrush Drive.

Jones and her passenger 30-year-old Jorge Morales reportedly told police they were dropping the car off to a mechanic around midnight but the car was full of groceries.

Jones allegedly told officers they could search the vehicle and police found meth and a syringe inside the car.

Police say the couple had the windows down in the car and attempted to destroy the drugs.

Jones and Morales both told police the meth and syringe were not theirs. They were both charged with possession of meth and tampering with physical evidence.
