Man Charged After Hopkinsville Hit-And-Run Crash

A Hopkinsville man was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after a crash on Central Avenue Saturday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police Officer Michael Felts said 42-year-old Alprestonia Butler was eastbound when the car he was driving struck an open door of a parked vehicle on Central Avenue causing the door to slam on 20-year-old Shadia Harper’s leg.

Butler reportedly fled the area before police arrived. As police were investigating the crash they were told about a possible stolen car on East 7th Street that fit the description of the vehicle that fled.

Later in the day officers were called to Major Lane by Butler who allegedly reported a robbery that was unfounded.

The car was then located on Cadiz Road near Eagle Way and Butler was arrested. The owner of the car told police she didn’t want to file charges on Butler after the car was located.

Harper was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center by ambulance for leg injuries.
