The State Fire Marshall’s office is assisting the Hopkinsville Fire Department in determining the cause of a fire that left a woman and child dead on North McPherson Avenue Saturday night.
Hopkinsville Fire Department spokesman Captain Michael Pendleton said the home was fully engulfed when they arrived shortly after the fire was reported around 10:40. He says no information has been released by investigators about the possible cause of the fire.

The cause of the fire that is believed to have started in the living room is unknown. The American Red Cross was called to help the family.
