Paducah Man Facing Charges Following Multi-County Pursuit

A Paducah man is facing several charges, including fleeing and evading and wanton endangerment, following a multi-county high-speed pursuit over the weekend.

Lyon County Sheriff Brent White reports that a deputy was on his way to report for duty when he observed a vehicle driving recklessly in Caldwell County just before 9:30 Sunday morning. He adds that the deputy monitored the vehicle, which had just been in a pursuit with a Kentucky State Trooper that had been terminated about ten minutes prior, and watched it enter Interstate 69 before the Princeton Police Department or Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office could be notified.

Sheriff White states that as the vehicle accelerated significantly toward Eddyville approval was given to the deputy to initiate a pursuit once they entered Lyon County. He notes that the pursuit continued south before the vehicle turned west on I-24, traveling through Lyon, Livingston, and Marshall Counties. KSP then rejoined the pursuit.

Sheriff White reports that deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office deployed a tire deflation device near the 25-mile marker that deflated both the offender’s passenger-side tires and one of the deputy’s tires. The offender slowed but continued for nearly another mile before exiting the right shoulder of the roadway and fleeing on foot.

The offender, who was later identified as 28-year-old Damontez Dalano Brown, was then stopped with the use of Taser and was arrested without further incident. Brown is facing

charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, first degree fleeing or evading, reckless driving, operating on a suspended license, and various other traffic offenses, in Lyon County. In Marshall County, Brown is facing charges of second-degree wanton endangerment, second degree fleeing or evading – on foot, resisting arrest, third-degree criminal mischief, as well as various other traffic offenses.

Brown was then lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
