An Illinois man and woman were injured when their vehicle collided with a truck and a tractor-trailer at Exit 86 on Interstate 24 Tuesday afternoon.
Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies say eastbound traffic was stopped due to road construction when an SUV driven by 80-year-old Richard Tostovarsnik was unable to stop in time and attempted to go between vehicles and hit a mirror on a truck driven by 52-year-old Phillip Gaw of South Carolina.
Tostovarsnik’s SUV continued eastbound hitting a tractor-trailer driven by 30-year-old Christopher Austin of Illinois and the bridge.
Tostovarsnik’s SUV came to a stop wedged between the tractor-trailer and the bridge.
Tostovarsnik and his passenger 69-year-old Alice Tostovarsnik had to be extricated from their vehicle and were taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries.
