A retired sergeant previously stationed at Fort Campbell will be the guest speaker this Thursday as part of Hopkinsville Community College’s month-long celebration of Women’s History.
Retired Sergeant First Class Tangi Smith is the founder and executive director of Woman Elevated, LLC, a veteran outreach nonprofit organization. She will be discussing entrepreneurism and the establishment of her organization.
Smith, a North Carolina native, joined the United States Army in 1996 and retired in 2017 from Fort Campbell. She was an Orthopedic Technician and later converted to a Combat Medic. While actively serving in the Army, she has been a guest speaker for several organizations, written for an advertising magazine and hosted a weekly morning show in Nashville that has audiences in Tennessee, Kentucky and Northern Alabama.
After her retirement from the Army, Smith won the 2018 midterm election for Montgomery County Commissioner in Clarksville in District 8, unseating a 16-year incumbent with over 60 percent of the vote.
Smith’s speech is set to being at noon Thursday in the Emerging Technologies Building, Anderson Seminar Room. The event is free and open to the public with complimentary food provided.
