The National Weather Service in Nashville has confirmed an EF-3 tornado struck portions of the Tennessee capital during the early morning hours Tuesday.

Former WKDZ On-Air Personality Michael Davis, who works in downtown Nashville, tells the News Edge the storm missed the downtown area.

He adds normal activities are starting to resume in downtown Nashville.

Davis notes spirits are pretty good in the aftermath of the destruction.

Efforts began almost immediately to rebuild the communities impacted.

Nashville Mayor John Cooper announced Tuesday that volunteer efforts are being coordinated through Hands on Nashville. Donations are also being accepted by Hands on Nashville and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

Donation drives are being organized by the City of Cadiz. Donations of baby food and formula, diapers, batteries, personal hygiene items, bleach, and trash bags are being accepted now at Cadiz City Hall. Collection drives will also occur at Hancock’s Neighborhood Market and Food Giant Monday morning from 8:00 to noon.
