UPDATE – Area Residents Helping With Tennessee Recovery Efforts

Residents and businesses in Trigg and Christian County are stepping up to help those in need after tornadoes destroyed several areas in middle Tennessee.

Cadiz Mayor Todd King reports they are hosting a donation drive to collect baby food and formula, diapers, batteries, personal hygiene items, bleach, and trash bags. Donations are being accepted now at Cadiz City Hall at 63 Main Street and the Little River Baptist Center at 149 Old Dover Road. Collection drives will also occur at Hancock’s Neighborhood Market and Food Giant Monday morning from 8:00 to noon.

Damon Latham, with the Southwestern Kentucky Storm Spotters, adds they will be collecting donations at the Food Giant in Cadiz Saturday from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Latham adds they will be accepting baby food and formula, non-perishable food, and other items to be donated to the Red Cross in Clarksville.

In addition, business owners in Hopkinsville are going to be making monetary donations to aid in recovery efforts. Coming up Saturday, Griffin’s Studio at 100 East 6th Street, will donate 75% of all pottery painting sales to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The Mixer at 114 East 6th Street will also donate 100% of merchandise sales and 10% of food and beverage sales from Saturday to the same organization.
