Three Facing Theft Charges In Princeton

Three people are facing various charges, including theft, following an incident at a retail business in Princeton Saturday morning.

Princeton Police Chief Chris King states that officers responded to Walmart just after eight in reference to a shoplifting complaint. He adds that investigation revealed the suspects had taken merchandise to a vehicle without purchase and attempted to leave the property but had run out of gas.

Chief King reports that officers then discovered merchandise valuing $1,423.49 in the vehicle that had not been paid for.

During the investigation, it was revealed that one of the suspects, 34-year-old Jennifer L. Day, of Princeton, was allegedly under the influence of intoxicants and was taken into custody, charged with public intoxication and complicity to theft by unlawful taking $500 or more. A second suspect, 65-year-old Darlene Kellam, of Madisonville, was issued a citation for theft by unlawful taking $500 or more.

Chief King notes that a third suspect, 37-year-old Brian K. Bourland, of Madisonville, was later found by officers as he attempted to walk away from the store. Bourland was reportedly concealing merchandise in his jacket and was also found to be in possession of a counterfeit $50 bill. He was taken into custody and charged with theft by unlawful taking under $500 and criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Both Day and Bourland were then lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
