A beloved western Kentucky festival has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
Benton Mayor Rita Dotson posted on Facebook Monday night that Tater Day and all related activities have been canceled. Dotson estimates around 30,000 people come to Marshall County during the weekend event that was scheduled from April 3-6.
She adds they are planning a 175th-anniversary celebration for the city of Benton in June or July, with assistance from the Benton Kiwanis Club and hopes to bring a carnival to town and host a parade.
