The Christian County Heart Walk scheduled in mid-April has been postponed until June to help control the spread of COVID-19.
American Heart Association Development Director Suzanne Riley says the Heart Walk has been rescheduled for June 13 at the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds after the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention recommended postponing events with crowds of 50 for the next eight weeks. She adds messages will be sent out soon to all registered guests informing them of the change.
While this year’s event originally scheduled for April 18th has been postponed, Riley says their team is committed to providing the best sponsor and guest experience possible. She adds the funds raised are critical to their urgent mission: to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. She points out the gifts will be used to fund lifesaving research, support health and education initiatives in our community, improve the quality of care in our hospitals, advocate for healthy policies and much more.
As their plans change for the Christian County Heart Walk, Riley says they will need your support and commitment to help them raise funds, communicate with your employers and ensure that your sponsorship activation is the most engaging and successful as possible.
In addition, Riley says they know you may have questions around how COVID-19 impacts individuals with underlying health issues, such as cardiovascular disease. She adds they will continue to update the American Heart Association web page with coronavirus health information and tips to help people keep up their healthy heart habits amid virus concerns.
