Trigg County Judge/Executive Hollis Alexander announced during Tuesday night’s fiscal court meeting he has signed a declaration of a local state of emergency to ensure every action possible can be taken during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During his comments to magistrates, Alexander said the declaration comes from advice from the Governor’s office, local health district, and state emergency management.
Alexander adds there is an executive order that has closed all county government buildings until further notice.
The closures come as a safety precaution for all county employees. Alexander says there haven’t been any shortages of food in the county.
He adds they can not implement anything that supersedes state law.
In addition, magistrates approved the Trigg County Conservation District budget, which includes $60,000 from the county. Alexander says that the amount has not changed in the last few years.
