First COVID-19 Case Confirmed In Christian County

The first Coronavirus case in Christian County has been confirmed by the Christian County Health Department.

Health Department Director Kayla Bebout announced during a Thursday news conference the patient is a 61-year-old female.

Bebout says the health department is still working to see if anyone the patient has been in contact with has contracted the virus.

She adds all of those who have been in direct contact with the patient have been contacted.

Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says the county has declared a local emergency.

Jennie Stuart Health CEO Eric Lee says the physicians and staff have been preparing to deal with a possible case.

Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch and Christian County Judge Executive Steve Tribble also spoke during the news conference.  No questions from the media were answered following the announcement.
