Kentucky Reporting 47 Cases of Coronavirus

Governor Andy Beshear says there are now 47 cases of COVID-19 in Kentucky, a significant increase from Wednesday.

During his Thursday update, Governor Beshear also reported the second Coronavirus death in the state.

Governor Beshear said a 6-year-old child from Jefferson County has tested positive.

He added the cases are beginning to spread across the state, including one announced Thursday afternoon in Christian County.

Governor Beshear says he signed a waiver to allow YMCA’s to provide daycare.

He also encouraged workers who have been laid off to begin signing up for unemployment benefits.  And the governor said there will soon be some help for struggling small business owners.

Beshear also encouraged people who have been impacted by the closing of businesses to sign up for Medicaid.

He also reminded Kentuckians to remember rules concerning no gathering of large crowds, continue observing the closures that are in place, and the need to exercise social distancing.
