Trigg County school board members voted Wednesday afternoon to utilize spring break as instructional days, to allow the final day for students and teachers to be pushed up a week.
Director of Personnel and Student Services James Mangels says Governor Andy Beshear recently signed Senate Bill 177, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He adds Superintendent Bill Thorpe recently conducted a survey asking teachers and staff, if they would be willing to use spring break, as a time for instruction.
Board members unanimously approved making spring break an instructional time for students, meaning Friday, May 8 would be the last day of school for students and Tuesday, May 12 the closing day for staff members.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the campus of Trigg County Public Schools remains closed until Monday, April 20, meaning that students are to complete NTI work at home. No date has been set for graduation, as that and many other school activities are on hold, due to the spread of COVID-19.
