COVID-19 Cases Continue To Rise In Montgomery County

Officials in Montgomery County, Tennessee reported there were 37 confirmed novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the county as of Thursday afternoon. That number is up from 27 confirmed cases Wednesday afternoon.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported the total number of COVID-19 cases statewide is now 2,845 as of Thursday afternoon, including 32 deaths, 263 hospitalizations and 220 have recovered.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed another executive order Thursday requiring state residents to stay home unless they are carrying out essential activities.

He said the order is in response to data from the Tennessee Department of Transportation that showed while safer at home measures and further restrictions on business showed a decrease from March 13-29, data beginning on March 30 indicated travel is trending upwards, again.

According to the governor’s office, data that analyzed cell phone mobility and determines movement trends among people indicated the movement of Tennesseans is trending toward pre-COVID-19 levels.

In addition, officials say Tennessee has partnered with the Corp of Engineers, who is working with FEMA, and accessing sites across the state to build capacity Alternate Healthcare Facilities. Officials indicate one of the facilities is Music City Hall in downtown Nashville. It will be transformed into a COVID-19 Positive Non-Acute Alternate Healthcare Facility and serve patients who need hospital care, but do not require critical care. They say it will provide more than 1,600 patient care spaces. The other facilities include a shopping center in Memphis, the Chattanooga Convention Center and the Knoxville Expo Center.
