During the Tuesday afternoon Christian County Health Department news conference, the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department says walking trails remain open through the COVID-19 pandemic to allow the community a chance to get out and exercise.
Superintendent Tab Brockman says the Greenway Rail Trail, the Tie Breaker Walking Track, and the Pardue Lane Dog Park still remain open.
Brockman adds everyone who is utilizing them must practice social distancing.
Brockman says the places closed are visited several times a day by park and recreation employees and law enforcement to make sure no one is using them. Closed places include playgrounds, basketball courts, and the Jennie Stuart Health – Planters Bank Sportsplex Hopkinsville.
Brockman commends the public who has listened to the mandates and not created a crowd or disobeyed any rules. He adds they are working on some preventative measures they will implement when this pandemic ends.
Christian County Health Department Spokesperson Amanda Sweeney says there are 48 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of those, 37 cases are active and 11 people have fully recovered.
Beth McCraw, Jennie Stuart Medical Center’s chief nursing officer, says they currently have 7 patients that have confirmed positive for COVID-19, with 2 of the patients on ventilators. McCraw adds there are 9 pending cases, with one person using a ventilator.
McCraw went to say all tests that were sent to Lab Corp in North Carolina have been returned. She says Jennie Stuart has partnered with two other labs and will not send any more tests to Lab Corp.
