UPDATE (6:30pm 4/7/2020) — Kentucky State Police have confirmed to the News Edge that a fire on Jefferson Street in Cadiz did result in at least one fatality. Family members have been notified of their discovery, and the investigation is continuing.
State police and the fire marshal’s office are conducting the investigation into the fire that occurred Tuesday afternoon.
Firemen from Cadiz, Montgomery, and East Golden Pond Fire Departments were sent to the 100 block of Jefferson Street around 1:15 Tuesday afternoon. Flames were visible from the home by the time first responders arrived.
State Police Detective Sgt. Brett Miller said the arson investigation unit of the state police and the state fire marshal’s office are both continuing their investigation.
A witness at the scene said an adult may have suffered injuries while attempting to enter the burning home.
Jefferson Street remains closed while investigators are at the home. State Police said they would provide more details later.
