More information has been released into the deaths of two small children in a Cadiz house fire Tuesday afternoon.
Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson identified the siblings as three-year-old Kamari Harris and seven-month-old Ky’nylee Harris. He said an examination conducted by the coroner’s office and the Western Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office determined the children died of a combination of “smoke and other products of combustion inhalation.”
Kentucky State Police arrested the children’s mother Keyona Bingham Tuesday night and charged her with two counts of felony wanton endangerment. Police say Bingham admitted to leaving the children alone inside the Jefferson Street residence Tuesday afternoon before the fire began. Police have not said where Bingham was, how long she was away from the residence, or how the fire may have started.
The origin of the fire and the circumstances of the incident are still under investigation by state police and the fire marshal’s office.
