For the first time since late March, the Christian County Health Department says the number of active COVID-19 cases remains unchanged from the previous day.
Department Spokesman Amanda Sweeney said Friday that Christian County has 40 active cases, which was the same as Thursday. The total number of Christian County cases Friday is 62, which is six more than Thursday. She also reported six more people who previously tested positive have recovered bringing that total to 19. The last time the health department reported no change in the active cases was March 26-29.
Sweeney reminds those people who live with someone that has been tested for COVID-19 to remain in quarantine as well.
With the Easter weekend here, Sweeney encourages people to be smart about how they choose to honor and celebrate the religious holiday.
Meanwhile, Health Department Director Kayla Bebout says the testing reporting process has improved since the first case was reported in Christian County on March 19.
Jennie Stuart Health CEO Eric Lee said over 700 tests have been administered at the hospital’s express lab location. He said about the same number showed up to be tested but weren’t given a test because they didn’t meet the criteria of a health professional. Lee said the testing process is much smoother now than three weeks ago.
Lee said all of the COVID-19 testing sent to Lab Corp. in North Carolina has been returned, although several people were retested and those testes sent to PTC Lab in Columbia, Missouri. He said the PTC test turnaround has been 72 hours or less.
