Princeton Woman Involved in Hit-and-Run; Eddyville Man Arrested

A Princeton woman was involved in a hit-and-run that lead to the arrest of an Eddyville man Wednesday.

Lyon County Sheriff Brent White says deputies responded to a reported hit-and-run collision at the Eddyville Mall on Outlet Avenue just after one. He adds that a preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by 48-year-old Leigh Brown was struck by a 2011 Nissan Altima causing both vehicles to be adjoined together. Brown told deputies that the driver of the Nissan requested her to back up in order for the vehicles to be separated and then fled once they were disjoined.

Sheriff White states that the Nissan was later located in a driveway in the 300 block of West Fairview Avenue in Eddyville, but the driver had fled on foot. Sheriff White reports that deputies were able to identify the driver as 21-year-old Diego Lopez Diego, who was later located in the parking lot of an Eddyville business where he was taken into custody without further incident.

Diego was charged with his first DUI offense – aggravating circumstances, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, and various other vehicle-related offenses. He was then lodged in the Christian County Jail.

No injuries were reported in the collision.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Eddyville Police Department.
