The 9th annual golf tournament for the Seven Friends Memorial Scholarship fund will not take place this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but donations are being accepted to make this year better for Trigg County seniors.
Tournament organizer Stephanie Perry tells the News Edge the event was scheduled to take place Saturday, May 9.
Perry adds even though the tournament is canceled the need for funding still exists and the community truly understands that.
She says they have received numerous scholarship applications this year.
One way to donate to the group is by picking up bicentennial pins at Cadiz Ace Hardware or Fourshee’s Building Supply, additional donations can be left at those businesses.
Perry adds the community’s generosity around the scholarship means a lot to the parents of the seven friends who were killed in a head-on crash on December 15, 1993.
Perry says another way to donate is by sending it to 2531 Old Canton Pike; Cadiz, Kentucky 42211 or by calling her at (270) 836-3860.
On average, the Seven Friends group gives out around 50 scholarships every year.
