Another popular western Kentucky event will not take place as originally planned due to COVID-19 concerns.

Western Kentucky State Fair Board President Preston Rives tells the News Edge the executive board met Tuesday night and decided to cancel the fair scheduled for June 26th-July 4th but he adds it could be held at a later date.

Rescheduling the fair to a later date, he adds depends on several factors but they feel canceling the fair in June is best for the community.

Rives says right now they are trying to contact everyone involved in events at the Grand Stand as well as the Convention Center to see if they may be available later in the year.

The Western Kentucky State Fair has brought excitement and amusement to fairgoers since the 1950s with its wide selection of exhibits, rides, food, crafts, animals, competitions, carnivals, music, games, and free entertainment, attracting more than 30,000 residents from around the area.
